Most patients see a significant improvement in their vision at the one day follow up visit. However, various factors such as the laser treatment time and the amount of swelling can affect the initial crispness of your vision. Do not be alarmed if your vision is not as sharp at one day as a friend or family member who had the procedure, as patients have different healing rates. Initially, vision may fluctuate from day to day and even throughout the day itself. Fluctuations generally subside within the first two weeks. Dry eye symptoms can occur in the weeks following LASIK. A lubrication drop is required the first month, but may need to be used frequently for 2-3 months when symptoms typically stop if present. Glare at night is typically experienced initially as the eyes heal. This generally subsides within the first few weeks and is rare for patients to experience after 3 months.
